What do men want?

Dear God,
How are you?
(Surprised, right? I know)
I just thought about how selfish humans can be.
We never bother to ask how you are. We always assume you are doing great.
And even if you are, courtesy should prevail, yes?
(Why are you looking at me like that? No, today is not mischief day, I promise)
So I watched this very funny skit with my senior colleague in the office and we had a good laugh.
But I pondered a lot on it.
Seriously Lord, what do men want?
All my life, I have heard men say that women are so difficult and confusing and I don’t get it.
Simple, beautiful and kind us?
How can species that are so beautifully created from a single rib cause this much problem for species that have 24 solid ribs…(12 on each sides)?
I told you that today is not mischief day, I am searching for answers.
And I am coming to you…..Yes, because you started it.
What were you thinking when you created Adam?
Adam has to be from the Western world. There is no other way to explain why he ate that apple. Love in Tokyo!
Imagine if Adam was from Africa….wait bring it home….Nigeria.
If you like stand naked with that apple, he won’t eat it.
So he will loose paradise and go to the bush and till the ground for you?
In your dreams….their love no reach like that.
Dad, I know alot of them will come after me reading this, but it’s you I am talking to oh. I am not talking to anyone oh. Tell them.
(Dad, stop laughing, I am not done yet)
So a friend of mine that I love so much called me in tears years back.
She was practically heartbroken when she told me that her husband forget their 15th wedding anniversary and didn’t send flowers.
Lord, I burst into laughter. I laughed at her for a long time. She was perplexed.
So I told her my story.
Fell inlove with my Adam, got married, had this beautiful 4 layer cake made by his aunty for our wedding.
I was told to keep one wrapped and frozen to use to celebrate our 1st anniversary.
I believe that 1st anniversary came the next day…..yes, when you are inlove, time just flies.
Anyway, I called a few friends, we organized stuff. We were going to give him a surprised wedding anniversary.
Just a day to the surprise anniversary, my spirit warned me to tell him because he doesn’t like surprises much.
So I started it with a game. What is significant about today?
What would you remember most about tomorrow?
And the gentleman kept staring at me blankly. He had no clue.
Just one year? I stared back at him in mock horror.
“Sweet, I said emphatically, tomorrow is our wedding anniversary”
“Oh” was all he said scratching his head.
Then he added with a pained expression…….”Am I supposed to remember that day for the rest of our lives?”
I stared at him.
I almost called off the mini-party, but somehow I reasoned with him. If he can’t remember, why don’t I remember for us?
He is still the best husband on planet earth today, so what if he doesn’t remember birthdays ( he doesn’t even remember his own. So how can you blame him for forgetting yours), and anniversaries, just do what you need to do and be happy.
My friend and I laughed so hard that day.
Yes, Lord, thinking about it now, it sounds so funny but I could have easily strangled him that day.
My Adam told me something significant that day. Something that laid the foundation of our marriage.
“I love you Sweet, you are my wife….and that’s it. Let’s work this out through thick and thin. Whatever we find in this marriage is our cross, let’s carry it cheerfully”.
I never forget that.
So my friends….if you Adam forgets your birthday, hit the street and have yourself a good time with friends….he doesn’t love you less….seriously.
If he forgets your anniversary, polish your ring again and hit the streets.
If you like flowers….go to shops and get a bundle…..
Don’t put your happiness in the hands of anyone. It’s a risk. A strong recipe for disappointment.
(Why are you looking at me like that, Lord)
Oh, I am sorry Lord.
Yes, the only one who can give you joy and absolutely love is my Lord, our God.
Build your hope on Him. Cast all the cares on him…..He’s got you!
We good now Lord, right?
I love you Lord. You have been with me through this marriage journey and I am super grateful.
This is Your daughter, we are still on this, but I like to check in now.
