And Fate Turned

Dear God,
(Smiles)
When you look at me like that, I know you have read my heart already….
(Smiles again)
Okay, fine… I know I was supposed to finish a story, but my heart won’t let go of this….
Please can I show you?
Do you remember the story of that nightingale that was born in prison?
Yep!
I got an email from her, and it read….
Dear Aunty….(I love it when they call me that…)
I hope this email finds you well…(of course)
I got your details from my pastor, and I couldn’t go away without saying thank you to you (go away).
I still remember that day you came to our church for the child dedication. Sitting in the front roll, you looked so rich yet friendly….( Yeah, I was overdressed for that party, but I like the friendly part)
And I remember praying that God should give me the grace he gave you ( okay now, be careful what you pray for….I am a very naughty child of grace…Smiles)
You looked so beautiful, yet there was this kindness and humility in the presence of God. (meenh, this girl can toast… My head is spinning already)
And the way you looked at me and hugged me outside… was different, very different ( yeah, I am a hugger, a good one).
I am used to people looking at me with pity, scorn, or compassion, but not admiration and love…..(hmmm)
And that was why I ran away from you that day (and made me trek through that alley after you….naughty like me).
That lady you talked to contacted my pastor, and after all said and done….I have been given a STEM scholarship to study in Finland.
It was a long drawn battle for the government to release me, but we thank God it was successful (hmmm, Nigeria, we hail thee).
I will leave this weekend (Waooh).
I just visited my mum in prison, and I told her, and for the 1st time in many years….I saw my mum’s eyes light up with pure joy ( and my eyes swelled up with pure tears)
“He did it”, mum cried…..God did what he promised me….”
I didn’t want to leave my mum, but the pastor and our church convinced me that she would be alright.
I don’t need any advice to know that this chance I have been given is for my mum….(And for you, baby girl, don’t forget that)
Aunty, thank you…..( I didn’t do anything)
My pastor said that God blesses us through people and that he sends his angels to deliver the blessings….
God used you to deliver mine… Thank you (I am an angel….Lord, call me angel aunty..Smiles)
I have a good foster parents and I am eager to start this new life with them.
I wish I had something bigger than thank you, but know that you saved this little girl by being kind to her. I won’t ever forget you.
My pastor says to tell you to remember the convention (chai)
One more good news, the UN is interested in my mum’s case….
Thank you…(Now Lord, that’s what I am talking about, you go for the overflow….well done)
Bye, and God bless you forever. Amen.
Hmmmm. What an intelligent girl. And she writes so well.
Lord, after I told that story, someone contacted me and asked for the details of that girl and I gave her. And that was all.
Honestly, I didn’t think much about it until my friend called me one day and said the pastor of that church was asking for my details.
We got talking, and I understood that the lady who asked for the details had UN connections and got the girl a STEM scholarship.
All things are bright and beautiful.
And here we are now. But I won’t take this glory, Lord. It belongs to you… just you.
Thank you, Lord.
You see why I talk to you? Because I know that even though you give me those faces and expressions… You listen….You do listen.
Thank you.
Meanwhile, I am keeping this letter. If for any reason I get to heaven and Angel Gabriel or Michael doesn’t hand me a big crown… I will wipe up this letter. I have evidence of being good (laughs)
Yes Lord, I am white-mailing you ( black mail ko?)
Hmmm. You made everything beautiful in your time. You did. You always do.
Thank you.
This is your angel daughter, I am checking in with evidence
